A Super Sunday
Can you believe an Ohio State fan won our Super Bowl Field Goal Kicking Contest? Anyway, congratulations Kyle. And kudos to Jason and Caleb who make some mighty fine goal posts. We also had a great time at our Super Bowl party even though the Colts fans were a little disappointed, to say the least.
Next Sunday we will continue with our Missions Month as we focus on the people we support. They are involved in mission work around the world. It can be tough being a missionary. They can often find themselves isolated, lonely, stressed out, insecure, and having to make do without a lot of the things we take for granted.
It reminds me of the Cast Away movie that came out several years ago and featured Tome Hanks. Hanks played a man who found himself on a deserted island after a plane crash. In an effort to cope with the situation he drew a face on a volleyball to serve as a companion. His interactions with Wilson, named after the sporting goods company who made the ball, gives us a glimpse of just how hard it can be when we find ourselves in unfamiliar and extreme situations.
This Sunday you will get the opportunity to create your own “Wilson” as we learn about those men and women who have bravely answered God’s call to serve Him all over the world. We look forward to having you join us.
