Sunday Worship, Camp Cotubic, and the Super Bowl Party
What a great day at our worship service yesterday. We sang a new song (for us) entitled “Rain Down” by Martin Smith & Stuart Garrard. I love that song as I find it really speaks to my heart right now. We had 91 people join us for worship and the nursery was bursting at the seams. Along with “Rain Down” we also sang “How Can I Keep From Singing?,” “How Great is Our God,” Eagles Wings,” and “Take My Life.”
Dave Stephens was our guest speaker to kick off our Month of Missions. Dave is the Director at Camp Cotubic. Our church has been strong supporters of the camp for many years now and it was great to hear Dave tell stories of the impact the camp is making on young lives every year.
Then last night a bunch of us gathered for a Super Bowl party. Most people seemed to not care who won but as the game got into the fourth quarter it seemed everyone started pulling for the Giants. I’m not sure if it was due to the fact that a lot of people root for the Colts and they felt obligated to root for Peyton’s little brother or if they just wanted to see the underdog pull off the upset. The kids had a blast playing video games while some of the others watched a movie.
By the time the game ended it was snowing very hard but everyone made it home safely. That includes two of my sons who were at a Boy Scout party in another town. Having teenagers driving home on slippery roads is going to make me age really fast. But God is good.
