Student Ministry

At ZUB we know that the number of people who walk away from their faith not long after they graduate from high school is high. We also know that this is true of kids from even the most dynamic youth groups.

We believe that there are three factors that help to launch our youth into a lifetime of faithfully following Jesus.

1. Solid Foundation – We believe that it is important that children not only know what the Bible is about but also how it relates to their vocation.

2. Service – We believe that it is important for our youth to be involved in actively living out their faith both within and outside the church.

3. Inter-generational Relationships – We believe that learning how to live out their faith alongside older generations prepares them for the challenges they will face as adults. We want to provide opportunities for our youth to worship, work, and study the Word along side men and women from older generations.

First Meeting Of 2008

The youth group held its first meeting of the year Sunday evening. The last time we met was on December 30 and we used it as a fun night. That meant spending the evening playing games on a Wii hooked up to a big screen projector. This week we were back to our regular schedule.

The meeting started out with pizza and pop. Everyone one must have overeaten during the holidays as 9 kids and 5 adults couldn’t put it all away. We then went around the room and let everyone share what they got for Christmas and followed that up with one of our favorite games. There is something about hitting people with a towel that is therapeutic for some reason.

We then broke up into Junior and Senior High groups for our lessons. Discussing what it means to be a Christian while fighting the effects of road rage must be something people can relate to because time flew by and it was soon time to go home.

Next week is a “community” night where the group will engage in a fun activity designed to build community among the members of the group. We would love to have you join us at 6:00 PM next Sunday.

Youth

Our youth aren’t ones to sit around and watch the grass grow. They like to get involved. The tackle the tough issues they face everyday and they take studying the Bible seriously.

This coming summer they will be traveling to the Kentucky Mission to help out. Planning has already begun for 2007.
